Identifying Abuse of the Fair Trade Certified Trademark and Label:
Protecting the Gold Standard
A model long respected in business tradition, third-party certification provides a credibility advantage in today’s increasingly sensitive business climate. Equally important, third-party certification is a system consumers can trust.
The term “Fair Trade Certified™” and the Fair Trade Certified label are the gold standard of integrity that stands for a rigorous process of licensing. Increasingly, consumers will accept no substitute.

TransFair USA makes every effort to protect partners who comply with the certification system as well as consumers who count on its integrity. In some cases, businesses that are not TransFair USA licensees use the term "Fair Trade Certified" or the Fair Trade Certified label; in other cases licensees may use the term or label incorrectly. Often, this misuse is simply a mistake. But, if the label is used incorrectly it harms the veracity of the model for all stakeholders. Therefore, we ask the help of our licensed partners and consumer allies in identifying and reporting instances in which the term "Fair Trade Certified" or the Fair Trade Certified label are displayed in an incorrect or potentially misleading manner.
