Dunkin’ Donuts Fair Trade Certified Espresso Day!

HotCoff_M_LoWake up! You probably already know that Dunkin’ Donuts makes a delicious Pumpkin Latte, but did you know the espresso beans in that latte are Fair Trade Certified?Leidy1

It’s true.  All of Dunkin’ Donut’s espresso drinks are Fair Trade Certified.  The company has served 100% Fair Trade Certified espresso since 2003.  As you can imagine, this has made quite an impact: To date Dunkin’ Donuts has purchased more than 20 million pounds of coffee from small-scale coffee farmers and has paid more than $1.3 million in community development premiums (that’s in addition to the Fair Trade price).  Farmers have used these premiums to build schools, invest in more sustainable farming practices and send their kids to college.  Leidy Lorena, shown here, is one such student who has benefited from Dunkin’ Donuts commitment Fair Trade Certified espresso.  You can read her story here.

Boston_TAlert to Fair Trade Bostonians: Dunkin’ Donuts, TransFair USA and the Boston Fair Trade Coalition will pass out 25,000 coupons for FREE Dunkin’ Donuts espresso at 6 Boston T stations during this evening’s commute: Downtown Crossing, South Station, North Station, Harvard, Back Bay and Government Center
