Way 18: Spread the Word!

mex012

Spread the word about how Fair Trade helps small scale farmers and their families!

Hopefully, all of that information from the previous post has sunk in. Your mission for today, in honor of Fair Trade Month, is to tell three friends about Fair Trade:  What is it? What does it mean? Why should you buy it? You can also tell them where you buy you Fair Trade products, and encourage them to do the same.

Once you’ve spread the word, test your own knowledge of Fair Trade with the Fair Trade Trivia Question of the Day. Post your answer on Facebook, Twitter or in the comments section on this page.  Then tweet “I’m #FairTrade smart,” @FairTradeUSA. Now go tell three more friends!

Trivia: Besides fair prices, what is one other Fair Trade principle that guides Fair Trade Certification?

Bonus: What is FLO (Fairtrade Labeling Organizations International)?

(The answer will appear in tomorrow’s “Way” post)

  • One other principle that guides fair trade distribution is the assurance of safe, humane working conditions for farmers & farm workers as well as the prohibition of child labor.
The FLO is the organization that works to audit all products to make sure they comply with all fair trade criteria.
